Sanur indeed a nice place for catching sunrise. It took me weeks after my arrival in Bali to finally go for sunrise hunt and lucky me, I made it! *after desperate for raining in early morning*
I went to Sanur not only with sunrise excuse, but also because I’m a bit bored with Kuta and its hustle bustle yet wanna stay away from it for a while. So, here I come with extended leisure, total stay for 2 days. Ubud and Nusa Dua are nice but Sanur is the most reachable one that I could go, it took me only 20 minutes to arrive at the hotel. During my trip, I spent my night and days at The Oasis Lagoon Sanur, Bali. I found that this four star hotel is one of the crowded one in the area, so I packed you with review to look inside the hotel and what you should know about catching the sunrise at Sanur.
p.s. Thanks to the hotel, they help me to catch the sunrise! Keep reading 🙂
The Oasis Lagoon Sanur is one of that three hotel managed by Oasis Hospitality Management (OHM) in Bali, other two hotels include Rhadana Hotel located at Kuta and The Royal Oasis at Benoa beach. This four star hotel not only known as hotel but also resorts with modern Balinese architectures. Located at Sanur city center, The Oasis Lagoon has an easy access by car and surrounded by restaurants, bar, shopping center, and 24 hours convenience stores. Most importantly, beach is reachable by walk within 600 meters (7-10 minutes walking).
I arrived at the hotel around 3.00pm and it was quite crowded, especially in the pool area. Simply look, most of the guests were matures, come with family or couples. I did check -in and the reception was quick enough to process my booking. It was high season at the moment and most of the room were full-booked. So, make sure you do a reservation unless you’ll get not that strategic room, bit far from swimming pool and restaurant.
ROOM CHOICES: FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND COUPLE
The Oasis Lagoon has seven types of rooms but I only could capture three of it; family room, lagoon access, and deluxe room. Basically, both room has same interior model, all of them are fully wood-furnished, enhancing the traditional Balinese concept, but still in modern way. The room also equipped with air conditioners, mini refrigerator, water heater, 32″ LCD TV screen, vanity and desk, safety box, and cupboard. The are no significant different in the bathroom as well. It completed with toiletries, hair-dryer, and rain shower.
What make the room different are the location, access to pool, and size of room. Lagoon Access and Deluxe Room provide 32 square meter room to accommodate two people. Both of the room reach quite expensive rate, more than IDR 1 million per night stay. If you come for swimming, lagoon access is perfect for you since it has direct access to pool right in front of your room and a wooden floor terrace with private lounge chair. If you are okay, you could have deluxe room with lower price providing balcony patio, enable you to enjoy scenery from height. I stayed at deluxe room located at third floor. It was quite far to reach restaurant and pool from the room.
Family Room is one the upper grade room, provided two separated bedroom, living room, one bathroom, and direct access to private patio or lagoon access. The room is quite big, around 54 square meters and could accommodate for 4 people. One night stay at this room reach over IDR 2 million.
If you are couple and wished for more private room with private pool, I heard that they have such a room called Cabana. It’s the most expensive one with additional access to Cabana Lounge and more facilities in the room like espresso coffee machine.
HOTEL AMENITIES: GYM, SPA, AND SWIMMING POOL
The Oasis Lagoon amenities basically are just similar with other hotel in the area, including gym, spa, and swimming pool. Too bad I didn’t get to have a look at the gym.
Spa is located near my room at the third floor. It has a quite large waiting room with a small garden connection to the spa room. There is only one spa room, occupied for two people so better to do a reservation first before having the services. They also have a bathroom similarly with the hotel’s room bathroom.
Good news for the swimmers and those who love sunbathing, their swimming pool is very HUGE! It also accompanied by the comfortable area for sunbathing. I think the management did a really good job in making a beautiful pool, same like what they did for their three star hotel in Kuta, The Rhadana. The pool has a beautiful turquoise color, bringing my memory about a lake. And it was stunning at night! Sometimes they put candles all along the pool for special occasion in the evening and it indeed so romantic to just sit aside the pool, doing chit chat with your lovers! *lucky you who get the lagoon access*
CAFE DE DAPOER: BREAKFAST, ALL DAY DINE IN, BBQ NIGHT, AND ROOM SERVICE
If The Rhadana Kuta has Cafe De Dapoer, The Oasis Lagoon also have the same brand of restaurant but with more menu choices and larger space capacity. Different with Kuta’s, Sanur has a semi open air restaurant and bar, served for everyday breakfast started from 07.00am. They have complete western menu from many choices of salad, bread, toast, and cereal until open station for eggs, sausages, bacon, and pancake. At the other side, they also provide Asian menu, mostly Indonesian and Chinese cuisine such as porridge, sauteed vegetables, satay, and fried rice.
All day dining started at 11.00am, right after the breakfast with menu range from local to international. I stayed at the hotel for two days and didn’t get to have lunch at other place aside Cafe de Dapoer. The food didn’t only beautifully plated but also taste good. I met young talented Chef Akbar Septianto who is the head chef at the restaurant. He’s 30s but have tons of culinary experiences in 5 star hotels and resorts all around Java.
Here are some of foods that I highlighted during my dining. The most recommended one is the Grilled Spring Chicken. It was well seasoned, so juicy and tasted definitely good with alfredo sauce. Other dish that hit me was Nasi Goreng Kambing. Although it’s bit spicy, but the strong spices flavor will make you sink in authenticity. For dessert, I personally recommend their Pisang Goreng Si Abang. It was simple dessert but I love the honesty of it’s traditional taste. I heard that this dessert is a family recipes from the owners, so nostalgic!
Beside of all day dining, Cafe de Dapoer also held BBQ night every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. With IDR 165.000++ per person, the guests can have portions of selected BBQ, satay, pasta, and other dishes. Dinner situation at the restaurant is quite crowded so booking a table is recommended.
SUNRISE HUNTING AT OASIS BEACH CLUB
Here it comes to the best part of the review that I was talking about, the sun rise hunt!
Since I was too tired for photo taking and stuffs during my first day, I finally went for the hunt at my second day. It was my first time visiting Sanur beach thus I had high expectation for the scenery. But it broke my heart so bad when I woke up at 05.00am and hearing sound of rain in my patio. I started to regret why didn’t I go at the previous day and just let go my tired? Why did I stupidly forget to check the weather forecast? But then, blaming wasn’t the solution. I was here already so at least just gave a try.
I went to the lobby and it still raining, but not that hard as before. I didn’t regret that I made a shuttle reservation at the previous night in case I woke up late or something. And finally I took the car as the jogging plan was ruined because of the rain. It only took 2 minutes by car to arrived at the beach, it really fast and near! I arrived at around 06.00am. *thank you driver, you woke up for me 🙂 *
I was waiting for a while in the car for rain to stop and finally it was! But the sky still dark, all covered by thick cloud. The wind also blew so hard , bringing so much chill to my body since I didn’t use any jacket (the next stupid thing after the forecast). I waited at The Oasis Lagoon beach club area and the scenery just as bad like this. It’s around 6.30am already but there were no sign that the sun will come beautifully like what I’ve imagine.
I finally decided to take at least the hotel beach club for this review but after 10 minutes, amazing things happen. The dark cloud suddenly disappeared and the sun come up beautifully just like this. It was really fast that I had to set my camera again and took as many photos as I could to capture the moment. I returned back to hotel with smiling face and glad that the photo come out pretty well 🙂
- The hotel applied a surcharge at different rates in high season (July, September, August, end of December to beginning of January).

- Extra bed will charge US$40++ per night
- Kids under 10 years old are free to enter a room with 2 adults accommodation
- Shuttle service and chair lounge at the beach club are provided for free for the hotel guests
