When in Kuta, Jalan Patih Jelantik and Dewi Sri have another story to be told. It’s easy access to Kuta Beach, Legian, and Sunset Road is the main reasons why those roads passed by everyone, either tourists or local citizens. The most popular Dewi Sri Food Court lied on the junction is another reason why those road surrounded with uncountable hotels — make them alive with people not only during the day but also at night. And Kuta Central Park Hotel Bali is one the oldest hotel built in that area.
Kuta Central Park Hotel Bali is located precisely in Jalan Patih Jelantik, inside the Central Park. Central Park are is actually buildings built for offices but then the hotel turned a half of it into rooms and hotel amenities. It’s original ruko (house-shop) still there and become the base design of the hotel’s building, created it’s own uniqueness. Although Kuta Central Park Hotel has only 3 levels, but the hotel area is huge enough, covering from front to back. I could tell, going around the hotel was likely going around a park!
At first I was a bit confused to determine which part belongs to the hotel, but the typical of purple color building leaded me up to the lobby. The lobby is not that spacious since it was built in the corridor but a 24 hours cafe located in front of the reception desk will make you comfortably wait for your room to be prepared.
I have to wait for a while to get my room since the hotel is highly in reservation at that time. As I done the check-in thingy, finding way to the room was another way to go because they have some separated buildings.
A second level room with red wallpaper welcomed me in. The room wasn’t that big but nicely it has a greenly balcony facing to small park’s road. Facilities are just common — a dresser, cupboard, LCD tv, inside room WiFi access, small refrigerator, hot water, toiletries, coffee maker, and all you usually find in a four stars hotel room.
Want to plan your day just in the hotel?
They have a huge swimming pool in between the building. Sun is coming in just perfect to the pool area, very nice spot for you who want to have a sunbathing at the side of the pool. Having a glass of cocktail or playing a round game pool with friends can also be added to your to do list in the hotel area. Meanwhile, while waiting to be picked up or even just have nothing to do with, the hotel provide a waiting room with two PC connected to internet.
Need something fresh to accompany your sunny day? The restaurant also served choices of beverages you could enjoy in fairy prices at the bar beside pool.
What impressed me a lot was the food they served at Lotus Pond Cafe — the hotel’s main restaurant. Peps, don’t judge by the cover. The restaurant may look old designed but the food in here was delicious enough to meet my standard! Various menu from domestic to international were available to fulfill your appetite.
The breakfast menu has so MANY choices, yes… so many.
The first buffet table that you’ll find as you entered the restaurant is the international buffet with bakery, toast, sausage, salad, roast potato, and other comfort menu in European and American breakfast. While at the back side of the restaurant, there are other tables that most likely didn’t get noticed by the guests, serving whole Asian and Indonesian cuisine, from the main dishes to traditional suit bites.
Beside serving a nice breakfast, having a dine in Lotus Pond Cafe also become a nice choice if you stay up until afternoon or late night. Although a bit princely, you will totally blown away with their ala-carte food. It didn’t only professionally plated but also taste delicious!
The course started with an appetizer derived from the tropical Balinese ocean. Seafood Pineapple Salad bring up my appetite with its spicy, sour, and sweet taste. Exotic is just right to define the plate. Coming up next was the marriage of two authentic recipes from different part of the world, Portugese Rendang Rice — combination of traditional Portuguese rice and Rendang Padang baked over grated mozzarella.
My heart fell so hard into their traditional recipes of Bebek Nyat Nyat. Strong flavours of Balinese herbs and spices permeated well into the tender duck breast. Served with three kinds of chili relish and traditional salad called urap — nothing can bet it’s deliciousness.
Didn’t feel like local food? Lotus Pond Cafe also have international menu choices such as Grilled Australian Beef Tenderloin over with mushroom sauce. Sharing bites like pizza also available to be grabbed into your sunbathing lounge, room, or billiard pool. Of course, choices of Balinese flavour was unique to be tried, just like this Balinese Pizza — topped with sambal matah, shredded chicken, shrimp, Thai basil, and mozzarella.
Closing the dine, Lotus Pond Cafe served that dessert which always to die for, Chocolate Volcano — even if it was a bit overcook but it still taste fine with strawberry jam and vanilla ice cream.
This hotel might looked a bit old at sight with not that fancy buildings from outside. But getting inside, it didn’t looked the same. Going around building to building at the hotel area, just like having a walk and passing a real park. Staffs are so helpful and friendly. They even likely to join you in your pool round! Price is fairly affordable for four hotel standard. What make me want to stay a bit longer is the FOODS! Kudos for the Chef who already turned up the food standard at Lotus Pond Cafe. Never joke about it!
